What is a serum?
A staple in many people’s skincare regimes, serums are known for their lightweight textures, being intense, targeted treatments that penetrate the skin at a deeper level. You can choose your serum depending on your particular skin type or condition (e.g. fine lines, blemishes, pigmentation or wrinkles). Even if you have ‘normal’ skin, you should still be using a serum rich in antioxidants, to help repair and protect it from daily pollution and sun exposure.
When should I use a serum?
Unless it contains retinol (which should normally be used just at night), a serum should be used morning and evening after cleansing and applying a toner/essence – and before your moisturiser and SPF to boost the efficacy of the latter two. Using your serum regularly over the course of several weeks and you’ll really start to see a difference in your skin.

Which serum is best for pigmentation and uneven skin tone?
The Celestial Black Diamond Retinol Oil contains 1% retinol – a hero ingredient you may have heard of. A powerful form of Vitamin A, it speeds up cell-turnover to refine skin texture and speed up cell renewal. Retinol can be harsh on the skin though, and needs to be administered properly, which is why Dr Yannis has suspended it in his unique blend of calming oils to minimise any dryness or irritation. Used in the evening, it’s the perfect way to combat sun spots, hyperpigmentation and post-acne scarring.
