A model’s schedule can be hectic during fashion week, and that can easily cause havoc on the skin. So when it comes to the perfect skincare routine, it needs to perform and provide essential care: de-puffing tired eyes, sitting beautifully under makeup, and delivering essential hydration for skin barrier support.
This New York Fashion Week, 111SKIN enlisted esthetician and skin expert Sean Garrette to create the perfect model on and off duty skincare routine. Backstage at Altuzarra and Proenza Schouler, Sean shared his signature tips and tricks to achieve a fresh complexion with skin that looks and feels healthy, radiant and precisely cared for.
“I designed the backstage facial around the Black Diamond Collection, an opulent range of concentrated, high-performance formulas designed to intensely preserve, restore, and renew the complexion,” Sean said. “Like a diamond, I wanted the skin to reflect light with unparalleled radiance, while maintaining a smooth, refined, flawless-looking complexion.”
Read on to discover the different steps and product recommendations so you can replicate the backstage facial at home, too.
Step 1: Cleanse
Prep the skin with the 111SKIN Cleansing Oil and Black Diamond Vitamin C Brightening Cleanser. Use both products as a double cleanse or opt for the Cleansing Oil alone to remove makeup and impurities.
Step 2: Resurface
Use 111SKIN’s latest innovation - the Precision Peel - as a quick flash peel. After cleansing, apply an even layer to the skin and leave on for 3-5 minutes, rather than the usual recommended length. For a smooth, even application, the peel can be applied using a brush.

Step 3: Prepare
For an instant reset and moment of self-care, apply the Black Diamond Face or Eye Masks, designed to lift and firm the complexion.
Step 4: Brighten
To replenish and hydrate the skin after exfoliation, apply the Black Diamond Brightening Essence. It helps brighten, strengthen, and hydrate the skin. Apply a few drops to the hands and gently massage into the skin using upward motions.

Step 5: Plump
Apply the Black Diamond Serum directly after the Brightening Essence. Use 2-3 pumps on slightly damp skin to boost hydration, enhance radiance, and leave the skin looking visibly plump and refreshed. Gently massage into the skin using upward effleurage movements.
Step 6: Eye treatment
For the eye area, the goal is to hydrate, brighten, and visibly de-puff. Two treatment options are available, depending on the desired level of hydration.
For lightweight moisture, use the Black Diamond Contour Gel. The precision metal-tip applicator dispenses the ideal amount of product while providing a cooling massage as you work the gel onto the delicate eye area.
For more intensive moisture, use the Black Diamond Eye Cream. Dispense half a pump andgently massage around the orbital bone using light, upward movements.
Step 7: Moisture
Finish with the Black Diamond Emulsion to leave the skin with a soft, radiant finish. Spend extra time during this step massaging and sculpting the face. Apply using upward effleurage movements, focusing on lifting and defining the cheeks and jawline.
