The Cleanse Programme: The Beauty Detox

Beauty is not just skin deep. Beauty is about looking after ourselves in every way possible. Stress, fatigue, pollution, bad diet, and cosmetics can all lead to damaged skin. Even just making a small difference to our lifestyles can make a huge difference to our overall health and appearance.

Detoxing in general, does not just make a big difference to our physical health and appearance but can also provide great benefits to our mental health. Once we feel better on the inside, this will show on the outside.

The Beauty Detox diet is about eating the right foods for your body, because if you don’t our energy goes into trying to digest these foods when it could be used to help repair damaged cells, improve our immune system and contribute to our overall health and wellbeing.

Start your day off with hot water and a slice of lemon. The health benefits of this are extensive and has been proven to flush out toxins and prevent the formation of wrinkles and acne. If you can’t manage to get your Vit C through drinking the lemon water, then try a topical product such as the Celestial Black Diamond Serum which contains Tannic Acid. This powerful antioxidant is 400x more powerful than Vitamin C alone.

Whilst your changes may be small, the key to achieving vibrant skin is consistency in this lifestyle change.

  1. Eat your heaviest meal at the end of the day

Contrary to popular belief, it is recommended that you eat the heaviest meal last to prevent a traffic jam in the digestive process. Plus, having heavy meals at lunchtime can give us a real afternoon slump and we become less productive. Our suggestion is try to avoid eating carbs after 6pm.

  1. Avoid Dairy

Diary products are very difficult to break down. Not only that, but most dairy is packed with hormones and drugs which kills the natural enzymes in dairy products that would have originally helped us to digest it.

  1. Avoid Gluten

Gluten can result in a toxic reaction that can inflame our internal organs. In addition, many wheat crops are sprayed with pesticides and toxic chemicals.

  1. Avoid sugar, even agave

Whilst many believe that agave is a natural sweetener, in order to arrive in this liquid form it undergoes a process which can involve chemicals. Not only this, but refined sugars give spikes your blood sugar which can cause a flair up and damage your collagen. Too much refined sugar can wreak havoc on the skin.

If you must have your sugar fix then honey is the only true natural alternative to sugar-although still try to avoid this if possible

  1. Choosing your protein powder

There has been significant research into the beauty benefits of acai berries. Aside from weight loss, acai berries help with pigmentation problems, combating wrinkles, and have anti-inflammatory properties.

  1. Coconut oil for everything

If you haven’t hopped on the coconut oil bandwagon, perhaps it’s time you do so. Not only is it much healthier than all cooking oils, but you can also use it to moisturise the skin and on the tips of your hair to reduce the appearance of split ends.

  1. Say no to alcohol

Whilst some might argue that the odd glass of red wine is good for you… yes, red wine does have a small concentration of antioxidants, but the amount is so small that you are better off sticking to your five fruit and veg a day. Alcohol is a ticking time bomb that will result in a fat explosion ending up in all the places you don’t want it- your hips, thighs and tum. When you reach for that glass of Vino, just remember as soon as you drink it, your body won’t be able to metabolise the food you’ve eaten throughout the day.
