Learn to avoid common irritants and you’ll soon be able to give your sensitive skin the proper anti-ageing, nourishing care it needs.
1. Always Read The Label
The first step when it comes to protecting sensitive skin is to always read the label. Products with strong fragrances, harsh chemicals or an abrasive nature will easily irritate sensitive skin and can lead to flare ups, redness and other potential problems. Look for products which contain Vitamin E, Aloe Vera or Jojoba oil, conditioning, hydrating ingredients which are good at combatting dry skin complaints.
2. Test Any New Products
This one applies to everyone, but particularly those with sensitive skin. When you have a new product place a small test patch on your skin 48 hours before you want to start using to check for any redness. Choose an inconspicuous patch like behind your ear or the back of your wrist. You should test products like new foundations or moisturisers from brands you are unfamiliar with.
3. Moisturise Daily
Dryness is common among those with sensitive skin, but having a good daily moisturising routine can help to prevent this. Moisturising every morning and evening can also prevent the premature ageing of the skin, as dry skin makes wrinkles and fine lines look more prominent. Our Space Aqua Booster contains Lactil, which instantly replenishes lost moisture by mimicking the skin’s natural moisturising factors, and a hyaluronic acid complex proven to increase skin’s hydration levels by up to 30% in three hours.
4. Eat Well
The old cliché is true “you are what you eat”. Make sure you eat a balanced diet full of fruits and vegetables, oily fish, lean protein and complex carbohydrate. It’s also important to drink plenty of water, even mild dehydration will show up in your skin and make it look dull, dry and lacklustre.
5. Protect Yourself From The Sun
Minimise the damaging effects of the sun by using products which broad-spectrum UV protection. You should ideally wear a minimum of SPF15 all year round, as UV rays can still penetrate and damage the skin even when it’s cloudy. UV damage is also the main cause of premature ageing, so proper sun protection is an important of any skincare routine.
