October is well underway, which means it’s officially the start of the Autumn/Winter season. Not only does that mean you can say hello to a new wardrobe and get out all the chunky knit jumpers, boots and scarves you’ve been wanting to wear for so long, but it also means that it’s time to have a look at your skincare routine, evaluate what products you’re currently using and make a few switches. Much in the same way that you’d probably swap your favourite bright pink summertime lipstick for a more moody, deep berry lip colour come Fall.
Just like summer, the autumn and winter seasons come with their own share of skincare problems. The main one being that the temperature is likely to be much cooler, which means that there is less moisture in the air and our skin is prone to becoming dry – or drier if your skin is already naturally like that. Often to beat the cold outdoor conditions we often find ourselves whacking up the indoor heat, and unfortunately this makes things even worse for our skin because even more moisture is being sucked out of it. The same thing happens when you take a very hot shower. Dry skin is also exacerbated by cold, windy weather which can lead to skin becoming flaky and red. In the worst cases scenario this irritated skin can actually be quite painful, plus it’s difficult to conceal as it makes any type of make-up look patchy.
Luckily there are simple steps you can take to keep your skin looking gorgeous despite the cold weather. First off make sure you regularly exfoliate with our Lift Off Exfoliating Cleanser. During cooler weather skin cells ‘die’ much quicker, and the build-up makes your complexion look dull. You can also give your skin extra hydration by drinking plenty or water or green tea, and eating water-rich foods like watermelon and cucumber.
